AI Website Detector

Was this website built by AI?

Paste any URL. We check builder fingerprints, AI coding-tool traces, and more — free, instant, fully transparent.

How it works

We fetch the page server-side and score six independent groups of signals. Every signal that fires is shown to you with its evidence — nothing is hidden.

1. Fetch

2. Analyze

3. Score

4. Show evidence

Builder fingerprints

We look for the exact CDN domains, asset paths, CSS class prefixes, and meta generator tags that AI website builders like Framer, Wix ADI, and Webflow leave behind.

AI coding-tool traces

Tools like Bolt.new, Lovable, v0, and Replit often leave HTML comments, attribution badges, or data attributes in the code they generate.

LLM API references

If a page's own scripts call an LLM API directly (OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, xAI), that's a strong sign AI is powering the site's functionality.

Hosting/DNS signals

Response headers and hosting providers common to AI deployment platforms — but humans use Vercel and Netlify too, so we weight this very lightly.

Human/CMS counter-signals

Markers from WordPress, Drupal, Joomla, Ghost, or classic server-rendered PHP actively lower the AI score — these are strong signs of a human-run stack.

Boilerplate heuristics

Default Tailwind/shadcn structures, generic AI-style marketing copy, and single-file inline-styled pages typical of one-shot ChatGPT output.

Frequently asked questions

How accurate is this?

No detector is perfect. We score six independent categories of evidence and show you every signal that fired, with the exact matched text, so you can judge the confidence yourself instead of trusting a black-box number.

Why did an AI-assisted site show as human?

If a developer used AI tools during development but the final output was manually built, deployed, and hand-edited, most AI-specific fingerprints (attribution comments, builder CSS classes) never make it into the shipped HTML — so it correctly reads as human-built.

Can you detect sites built with Claude Code, Cursor, or other local AI coding agents?

Only if a stray trace leaks into the shipped page, like an explicit "Built with Claude Code" mention. Unlike hosted builders such as Bolt.new or Lovable, local agentic tools edit your own codebase the way a human developer would, and leave no watermark, CDN domain, or badge in the output — so a well-built site made this way is often indistinguishable from a hand-written one.

Do you detect AI-written text?

No — that's a separate tool, coming soon. This tool only detects how a site was built, not whether its copy was written by an AI.

Do you store the URLs I check?

No. There is no database, no account, and no logging of the sites you check beyond what your own browser or our host's infrastructure handles for uptime.

Why is the hosting signal weighted so low?

Because plenty of hand-built, human-run sites deploy on Vercel, Netlify, or similar platforms. Hosting alone is weak evidence, so it only nudges the score slightly.

Can a site manipulate its score?

Yes, in principle — like any client-visible-HTML detector, a determined site owner could strip fingerprints. We optimize for accuracy on typical, unmodified builder/tool output.

What counts as "Definitely AI-built"?

A score of 80-100, which typically means multiple independent signals corroborate each other — for example, a builder fingerprint plus a matching hosting domain.

Is this free?

Yes, completely free, with no signup required.
